2010
Welcome to the year 2010. Sounds weird doesn't it?
Probably not if you were born in 2000, but for those of us
born in my era (1960), it just seems strange. I can only
imagine that those born in the late 1800's felt similar when
it turned into the 1900's.
What's your plans for the year? You're probably fed up
with the resolution stuff that's expected at the start of every
year. I know I am. Whenever I've made a resolution for the
New Year it always ended up forgotten by the end of the
month. Instead of a resolution for the New Year, I've made
it my choice to try to keep good thoughts, believe in myself,
and expect great things to happen. I can do this on a daily
basis for a long time and not kick myself in the ass for
having another resolution that went down the tubes.
I do have a resolution but it's not for the New Year, it's for
my own personal development. It's not watching the news.
Believe it or not, this has helped me more than other
practices I have put into place because I'm not bombarded
with negative information for hours on end. I am watching
the Haiti news but when they cut to politics or other
nonsense, I just turn my TV back to Discovery or the Travel
Channel. I feel so bad for those people in Haiti and it
makes me feel good that even though things aren't going
as well as we would like here in the USA, we're still sending
help and aid to these folks. It's why we're the greatest
nation in the world and when we take our minds off of us,
and help others, it makes us feel so much better.
So turn off your news because I guarantee you, if you wait
3 or 4 days and turn it on again, they will still be talking
about the same crap....Obama, Pelosi, the economy, blah
blah blah ad vomitus. There's no sense in having the news
channels put you into a state of fear and anxiety. No
matter what has happened on this planet, it always gets
better and better.
For example, they are saying that these times are worse
than the Great Depression. More unemployment, banks
going under by the hundreds, houses being foreclosed in
record numbers. It sounds horrible! But during the Great
Depression we had food lines, poverty like a Third World
Country, rationing of gas and food and even tires. I don't
see that happening now. So even as tough as times are
now, it's still nothing compared to the times of the
depression.
Be grateful for what you have and visualize what you want.
Expect it and believe it. Turn off the negative news and
don't hang around negative people, as hard as that may
seem. Hang around people that uplift you, that have faith
and soon you will have the same beliefs. It will get better,
guaranteed!
